Grand Opening: Siesta Key Beach's Renovations Revealed
The country’s No. 1 beach just got even better.
This Saturday, Feb. 20, Siesta Key Public Beach is hosting a public grand opening celebration to reveal its fully upgraded visitors’ areas, the culmination of two years of construction and nearly a decade’s worth of planning and consulting. And especially if you haven’t visited in a while, you should make a point of joining the festivities. The new spaces are something to behold.
Where once there was only Australian pine, picnic tables and an old wooden concession stand now sits spacious walkways and manicured play areas. The old rope fence that separated the area from the parking lot has been replaced by a broad, paved esplanade, allowing plenty of room for navigating with coolers and beach chairs. There are also multiple, wide-open access points to and from that coveted quartz sand beach.
Of course, the star of the show is the new elevated concession stand, which offers a stunning view from 20 feet above the beach. It’s gorgeous any time of day, but it’s absolutely the area’s latest sunset viewing hotspot.
And the other star of the show is the parking lot, which has been completely rearranged for easier navigation, and there are 140 additional spaces. Of course, it’ll still fill up, but that much more is better.
Saturday’s celebration starts at 9 a.m., with a walking tour of the new facilities starting at 10.
