Sarasota Chamber 'Opportunities For All' Initiative Awards Grants to 20 Minority-Owned Businesses

Plus, arts appreciation grants and more.

The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce's Opportunities For All (OFA),  initiative recently presented assistance grants to 20 minority-owned local businesses. The grants were funded through the Opportunities For All grant provided by the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation. The recipients are AGA Tax and Consulting Services LLCBia Candle Co, Brave Hearts Foundation, Inc., Castle ConciergeCreative Arts AcademyDapper Bowtique LLCDrummerboy Entertainment LLCExtraordinary Eventz LLCFUNducation, Inc.Her Beauty Lounge LLCHerrera Psychology, Little Medical School SuncoastMaking An Impact, Inc., Rosalyn Walton Education and Enrichment Services Inc.Scorpion King Charter/Pinch n PinchBlue Crabs and SeafoodSettles Stump Grinding & Tree Service LLCSous Tech LLCThe Sarasota Cuban Ballet School, Inc.Williams Solid Solutions LLC and Yummy Allergy Friendly Bakery.

Venice Theatre's 2023-2024 season sponsor, Gulf Coast Community Foundation, recently awarded the theater a $60,000 Arts Appreciation Grant. This was in addition to a grant of $440,000 from Gulf Coast's Hurricane Ian Recovery Initiative.

 Embracing Our Differences recently announced that the organization also received a $50,000 Arts Appreciation Grant from Gulf Coast Community Foundation. The grant will fund various aspects of the organization’s year-round educational initiatives.

Sarasota Jewish Theatre recently received funding from seven grant makers totaling $35,200 in support of its 2023-2024 season of mainstage productions, traveling performances and more.

The Junior League of Sarasota recently awarded $31,000 in grants to local non-profit organizations: Sisters Sowing Seeds, Embracing Our Differences, Easterseals Southwest Florida, School Attendance Support and The Twig Cares.

The Commercial Real Estate Alliance of the Realtor Association of Sarasota and Manatee raised $12,000 for Manatee County Habitat for Humanity at its annual golf tournament in October. 

The Suncoast Black Arts Collaborative was recently awarded a $10,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County to help support hiring a grant and fundraising consultant for one year.

Neal Communities recently donated 25 truckloads of dirt—which the company values at approximately $10,000 and $15,000—to advance the construction of an obstacle course for Venice High School's JROTC club.
