Sarasota & Midwest Artists Join New Local Contemporary Art Gallery
Elijah “Dripthro” McNeeley is an emerging abstract expressionist currently living in Boise, ID. In recent years, his art has gained popularity in the Midwest region of the United States. His approach to painting is by learning from mistakes. Beauty is found in the midst of chaos through this technique.
When I came across Dripthro’s work, I knew it was an immediate fit for the gallery. His approach to highlight color captivated me.” – Drew Marc
He views his abstract paintings as a place of liberation. He is able to give real voice to difficult feelings and experiences through his abstract paintings. His artistic path is a dynamic one, with every painting serving as a symbol of a new stage in his development. By using a variety of colors, forms, textures, and scales, he continually pushes the limits of his art and discovers the depths of creativity.
Susan von Gries is influenced by art from all around the world because she has lived in both South America and Europe, but in her most recent series, she steers away from vibrant colors and toward a more muted approach. One of her inspirations is the turquoise and azure waters of Siesta Key and Sarasota. She uses subdued blue undertones in neutral tones of gray, beige, and white. By applying multiple layers of paint, she can expose unusual hues concealed behind the tones she has created.
“Susan’s new series blends perfectly into our gallery, her work is strong, elevated, and geared toward interior design, making it the perfect fit for collectors in our area” says Gallery Director, Drew Marc.
Susan draws inspiration for her work from music as well. When she starts a new painting, her go-to song is the famous “Rhapsody in Blue” by George Gershwin. When the music begins to play, it has a significant impact on her brushstrokes and allows her to create movement in her paintings.
