Selby Foundation Approves More Than $823,000 in Grants
The William G. and Marie Selby Foundation recently approved $823,035 in grants for nonprofits serving a four-county region. The grants will fund specific capital needs of 17 charitable organizations, strengthening their ability to help residents and the community make gains. They are Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast, Habitat for Humanity Sarasota, Manatee County Habitat for Humanity, Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay, Manatee Children's Services, Arts & Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County, the Hermitage Artist Retreat, DeSoto County Fair Association, Early Learning Coalition of Florida’s Heartland, The Florida Center, Take Stock in Children of Sarasota County, Meals on Wheels of Sarasota, Parenting Matters, Sarasota Housing Funding Corporation, Step Up Suncoast and United Way of Charlotte County.
Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe (WBTT) recently received an Arts Appreciation Grant of $40,000 from the Violetta Marchisio Charitable Fund at Gulf Coast Community Foundation. The grant will support WBTT's operations and its outreach/education programs as well as the costs associated with its 2023-2024 season, which includes Once On This Island, A Soldier’s Play, Ruby, Marvin Gaye: Prince of Soul and the holiday show Joyful! Joyful!
Tidewell Foundation received a grant of $15,000 from Gulf Coast Community Foundation to support Tidewell Grief Care’s Blue Butterfly Family Grief Program in Charlotte County. The grant is designated to support the mental health of children.
The Library Foundation for Sarasota County was recently awarded a $15,000 strategic partnership grant from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County to support the "Love our Libraries" author luncheon.
