Marie Selby Botanical Gardens has promoted Walter Gilbert to vice-president for diversity and inclusion. Gilbert will guide Selby Gardens’ pursuit of diversity and inclusion goals, including further diversifying its workforce and improving organizational inclusivity. He took on this new role effective July 1.

 Selby Gardens' board of trustees also recently elected three new members: attorney Morgan Bentley, journalist Mary Braxton-Joseph and philanthropist Audrey Robbins each will serve a three-year term on the board. Their board service began on July 1.

Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation has announced that Stacey Corley will join the organization as its new president on Sept. 6, 2022. Corley succeeds Mason Ayres, who announced in May he will be retiring this fall.

Embracing Our Differences has named Sheila D. McKoy as its exhibition director. As an employee of the New Jersey Transit system for nearly 30 years, McKoy, a public art and creative placemaking expert and consultant, coordinated more than 150 public arts projects at transit facilities throughout the transportation system. During her tenure there, she managed the selection of artists from around the nation and oversaw contract negotiations with contractors and artists alike. McKoy also served as coordinator between communities, consultants, architects, and engineers to smoothly guide the process of integrating the artworks

Resilient Retreat has added Dr. Joy Miller, an internationally-known licensed psychotherapist, professional trainer, and author of seven books, to its board of directors. Miller is a licensed clinical professional counselor and a certified master addictions counselor who has been featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show and other syndicated talk shows.

Heather Kasten, president and CEO of the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, has been selected as one of the 55 professionals from across the state of Florida to join the next Leadership Florida class as part of the Cornerstone Class.

Andrei Malaev-Babel has been selected as director of the FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training, the Florida State University College of Fine Arts and School of Theatre announced. Malaev-Babel, an expert on Russian theater and acting techniques and an award-winning director and scholar who served as head of acting at the Conservatory for more than a decade, succeeds Greg Leaming, who recently retired. Malaev-Babel began his tenure on July 1.

Williams Parker attorney Michael J. Wilson has been appointed to serve as director at-large of the Florida Bar Tax Section for the 2022-2023 year, and will serve on the Directors’ Committee and the Executive Council of the Florida Bar Tax Section. Wilson, who is also the firm's president, practices tax, corporate, and business law.

The Bay Park Conservancy, the nonprofit organization responsible for overseeing the redevelopment of 53 acres of City of Sarasota-owned land along Sarasota Bay into a public park, has announced the hiring of Derick Kitson as director of operations, Mykenzie Johnson as activation and program manager, and Jordan Allison as development project manager.

Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation has announced the appointment of Jon Soderberg to its board of directors. Soderberg, an attorney, is managing partner at Prinsen Ventures and an attorney.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast’s board of directors recently elected Randall Woods as chair for a two-year term, effective July 1. Other officers include chair-elect Michael Nachef, treasurer Susan Flynn and secretary Nikki McCain. Other board members for the 2022-2023 fiscal year include Anthony Baldo, Richard Burtt, Karly Christine, Jessica Hardy, Perry Korszen, Sandi McDonald, Tim Parker, Don Patterson, Frank Spinola and Michael Tennant.

The Suncoast Black Arts Collaborative, a nonprofit organization that uses the unifying power of the arts to nurture inclusion and diversity across the regional arts and cultural landscape, has welcomed four new members to its board of directors: Dr. Denise Davis-Cotton, Kristofer Geddie, Tim Jaeger and Gregory Rumph II.

The  Gulf Coast Community Foundation board of directors has elected David Green as chair and Lisa Krouse as vice-chair for a one-year term as officers beginning July 1. The board also reelected Anand Pallegar for his third three-year term as a director. Peter Soderberg and David Sessions were elected to a second three-year term as directors.

Forty Carrots Family Center has named two new board members: Valerie Dall’Acqua and Joleen Searles.  They will both serve three-year terms.
